Of course, the very best and most reknowned French cooking book for the American market is ... you've guessed
it, Julia Child's!
If you don't have it yet, hurry and get it now (see link below) as it is coming off the shelves rapidly with the
success of Julie and Julia, the highly acclaimed movie.
We have been using Julia's book for years, and continue to rave about her masterpiece. Remember,
ingredients are different in France and in the USA, so using a French cookbook (in case you understand French) will
sometimes cause problems of measurements. For example, when we came from France and immigrated here, in the
USA, we couldn't understand why we could no longer make a good pastry dough! We found out that flour in
France and flour in the USA are not the same and therefore the proportions from our French recipes didn't work
well.
Thanks to Julia Child's book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" we were able to create an absolutely
fantastic doug again. Thanks Julia!
